He Moved In—You’re Not Trying to Get Close
Why intimacy with God starts with knowing He already lives in you.
We often hear people say things like, "I'm trying to get closer to God" or "I want to feel near to Him again." While those words may come from a sincere heart, they reveal a misunderstanding of what happened the moment you believed.
You're not on a journey to find God—He's already made His home in you.
Scripture says:
"Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?" —1 Corinthians 3:16
Jesus didn’t just come near; He moved in. When you believed the gospel, you were united with Christ. That union isn’t symbolic. It’s spiritual and real.
The idea of trying to "get close" to God implies distance. But there is no distance.
You are in Christ. Christ is in you. And nothing can separate you from that union.
"Whoever is united with the Lord is one spirit with him." —1 Corinthians 6:17
So if you've felt far from God lately, the answer isn’t to beg Him to return.
The answer is to renew your mind to what's already true: He never left.
Feelings fluctuate. But facts don't. And the fact is: He moved in, and He’s not moving out.
Let this settle in:
You’re not chasing God down. He caught you.
You're not begging for a visit. You're hosting His presence.
You're not earning intimacy. You’re enjoying union.
Intimacy begins by believing what He already did.
You are as close to God as Jesus is—because you’re in Him.
That’s grace. That’s the gospel. That’s home.
